This firearms course is for intermediate to advanced shooters. Beginners are encouraged to Basic Pistol first. The cost of this course includes teaching materials, time on the range and targets. Ammunition, duty firearm(s), duty belt, level II holsters and duty belt are not included in the course cost. Firearm rentals are available for the range qualification. Eye/ear protection is required for range qualification!

Firearms Security Training
Guardian Security offers Firearms Security Training in Deer Park, Long Island. This course is intended for intermediate to advanced shooters looking to become armed security guards. Beginners are encouraged to Basic Pistol first. Participants must pass a shooting course with at least 70% in the designated target area, as well as score at least 70% on a written exam. Upon completion and passing of this course, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate must be submitted with an application to the NYS Department of State to apply for a security guard registration change of status to armed security guard. You must complete all the days in the course and pass the exams to receive a certificate of completion.
What You Will Need
A full list of equipment requirements will be provided to you upon registration of the training. The following list is to give an idea of what may be needed.
- Minimum of 1000 rounds of ammo
- Duty firearm(s)
- Duty belt
- Level II holsters
- If you have a NYS Pistol Permit/License, please bring it to the first day of class.
Refund Policy: Failure to come to class on the date the class is given will result in a loss of payment unless you give a 24-hour notice to reschedule. We will be happy to credit your payment to another class. This applies to the first 2 reschedules. No refunds will be issued.

An Interactive Learning Experience
Guardian Guns & Ammo provides an instructor-led, hands-on learning environment that encourages active participation throughout the full 47-hour course. Rather than relying solely on presentation slides, instructors use guided discussion, participant questions, practical demonstrations, and essential firearms-safety principles. This interactive approach helps students understand course requirements, apply safe handling practices, and build practical knowledge with direct instructor guidance. Each course is taught by law enforcement firearms instructors who are qualified through the NRA and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Day 2 through Day 6 will be at Nassau County Pistol Rifle Range.
